Candle Care & FAQ's

CANDLE CARE from us to you, because...candles need love too!

Candle Maintenance & Burn Care

Create a Burn Memory

The first time you burn your candle, allow it to burn long enough to create a full melt pool. We recommend burning for up to 4 hours, or until the melted wax reaches close to the edge of the container.

This establishes a “burn memory,” helping prevent tunneling and ensuring an even burn so you enjoy the maximum life of your candle.

Wick Care

For best results, do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Before each relight, trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch.

Proper wick maintenance helps reduce smoke and wick “mushrooming,” encourages a cleaner burn, and extends the overall burn time of your candle.

Candle Safety Tips

Candles can pose a fire hazard if not used properly. By purchasing and using this candle, you acknowledge and agree to follow the safety guidelines below to help minimize risk and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Always place candles on a stable, heat-resistant, level surface.
Burn candles away from anything that can catch fire, including bedding, curtains, décor, clothing, and other flammable materials.
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Do not burn candles in drafts or near open windows, vents, or fans.
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn to help prevent excessive flame and soot.
Do not burn candles for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains.
Follow all burn and care instructions provided.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, injury, or damage. Sea Love is not responsible for damage or injury resulting from improper candle use.

Now… sit back, relax, and enjoy responsibly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My candle has wet spots or frosting. Why?

Wet spots or frosting are very common and natural characteristics of 100% natural soy waxes and are most often caused by changes in temperature during cooling or storage.

These are purely aesthetic and do not affect the scent throw or burn performance of the candle. Often, the appearance will correct itself once the candle is burning and the jar warms.

Can my candle vessel be refilled?

Any candle you purchased (or made!) with us can be refilled.

To clean your vessel for a refill:

Boil water and carefully pour it into your almost-empty candle jar.

Let the water cool completely. The wax will melt, float to the top, and solidify.

Remove and discard the wax or reuse it in a wax melter.

Remove the wick tab with a spoon.

Wash the vessel with soap and hot water.

After use, clean out your vessel and bring it back to create your next fragrance blend. Participating locations may offer $5 off your refill—our small way of saying thank you for reusing.

How long will my candle burn?

Burn times vary based on candle size:

12 oz candles: 40+ hours
16 oz candles: 65+ hours
Double wick candles: 90+ hours

Actual burn time may vary depending on wick care and burn conditions.

What kind of wax do you use?

We use 100% U.S.-grown soy wax, a renewable vegetable wax known for its clean burn and excellent fragrance throw.

What kind of oils do you use?

We use high-quality fragrance oils, many infused with essential oils.

Our fragrances are:

Phthalate-free
• Free of known carcinogens
• Free of reproductive toxins
• Free of other chemicals commonly considered harmful in home fragrance products

What is the diffuser base made of?

Our diffuser base is a proprietary blend of silicones and organic compounds designed to gently release fragrance into the air.

It contains no alcohol or DPG, which evaporate quickly and can clog reeds. The formula is VOC compliant in all 50 states when used at recommended fragrance levels.

How are fragrances made to smell so realistic?

Fragrances are created using a blend of naturally derived ingredients from plants and flowers along with synthetic aroma molecules.

These carefully crafted molecules mimic the scent compounds found in nature, allowing fragrances to smell remarkably true to life.

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?

Essential oils are extracted from plants, while fragrance oils are carefully formulated blends created in fragrance labs.

Using fragrance oils allows for:

• Greater scent consistency
• Safer and more stable formulations
• More sustainable sourcing

For example, it can take thousands of pounds of rose petals to produce just one ounce of rose essential oil. For this reason, fragrance oils are often a more ethical and practical choice for many fragrance products.

Are your products safe for pets?

Sea Love products are formulated with high standards for ingredient safety and are designed to release fragrance in moderate, diluted concentrations through wax or diffuser base.

While many customers safely enjoy our products around pets, animals can have different sensitivities—just like people. If you have concerns, consult your veterinarian and monitor pets for signs of sensitivity while fragranced products are in use.
